BDJ BOX JUNE 2015: THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY
I never imagined that my first BDJ box and also my first review about a subscription box will not be about what is inside but a deeper thought. There have been mix emotions about the June Box and comments, reviews, and opinions are everywhere.
I am pretty excited just like a kid excited to open up his/her presents when I saw the box. What caught my attention is the big "Bioderma" sign. You know what comes to my mind after seeing the brand? Their micellar water. I didn't open it yet, I shake the box and started guessing whether I got the pink or the green one. The surprise look on my face faded as I glimpse on what's inside.
Let me show to you what my box contents are:
That time, I don't know if I will be happy or not from what I get. I have The Body Shop Lip and Cheek tint already and I don't think I will use the GC included because TBS always held a sale and to be honest, I can save a lot more on their promos than on the GC. Another disappointment is that I didn't get any full sized product from Bioderma. The star of the box is Bioderma and I didn't received any single full-sized product and the full sized lip and cheek tint is currently on sale.
For someone who is not aware of the brand Bioderma what the person could see is a bunch of sample sized products plus a lip and cheek tint and a voucher. It doesn't even fill the small box! And as for someone who knows the brand, the person looks at the box with a smile because it is an adventure to try those out.
To be honest, I am in betwween. I know the brand, I have tried their mi cellar water and its great but, I can't hide the fact that I am disappointed. If we don't look and consider the price list included in the box, I actually think it is less than the worth. The star of this box and I just got samples of it. I know most of us wished that at least they included one full sized product even if they didn't include the TBS lip and cheek tint and the GC it would be better.
Since I am curious about what other people think and feel about the box, I looked at their facebook page. There I saw customers like me who are disappointed too. SOme asked for a refund and explain their feelings, their disappointment, their excitement to receive theri box. what I have observed is that the BDJ has a uniform answer. It bothers me because I can't see what is their solution ot the situation.
I messaged them and we exchange conversations. To make the story short, the converstaion didn't turn out well as both of us have "intense" feelings that is obviously showed up on every message we have. It was so intense, I felt like they don't treat me as their customer anymore, I felt like I am in a debate fighting for my thoughts. And I didn't like that. Customers is always right, In a way that a company should value their customer's perspective, thoughts, opinions, suggestions, are they satisfied or not.
I showed to my friends our conversation and they complimented me about my great act, I know it is such a brave move but I didn't regret that at all. Also, they didn't like how the company responded to my message. Take note that we are marketing major, so we have a background about business in fact we are studying it. So I believe there is nothing wrong with what I have said, after all I am their customer and then again, customers are important to any business.
The whole thing is very stressful and at the end of that day, I still didn't figured out what exactly their solution to this scenario. The box disappointed me but their way of responding to customers are worst! I can't see anything wrong with a customer complaining about the product or service that he/she have purchased as well as giving her thoughts, opinions, and suggestions. If the customer ask for a refund, they have the right. If the business doesn't allow it, why not?
I still have one question left in my mind, does this mean that a customer loses his/her rights when he/she purchased a subscription box more specifically a mystery box?
