I entitled this as a challenge because it will be my first time to use something from the brand. For the first time, I will be testing out something from Maxipeel- a brand that I have been making a "distance" for years. It is not that I don't think that it is good but the brand was known for their products which are formulated not for teenagers, in short these are not mild. End of story. As you know, one of my concerns when it comes to skincare is that it should be mild. That is my number one rule.
It was July when Sample Room released samples of Maxipeel Fresh and Natural Skin Purifier. I never bother to look or to try it that time. Then I saw it again at Watsons with a promo of Buy 1 Take 1. Being a sale addict, I was like: "Look, it is on sale!" and grabbed two bottles. The next thing I know it is on my shopping bag just like that.
Fresh and Natural, two words that caught my attention. I am thinking if it really is natural to think that it was from Maxipeel. I don't know, there are a lot of questions in my mind at that time. Could it be? Could this be the reason for me to be attach to this brand? Let's find out.
"Fresh and Natural Skin Purifier has Micropurifiers that move beyond the surface, down through the skin layers to remove unwanted contaminants and prevents the formulation of harmful free radicals, leaving your skin purified, healthy and happy."
Ingredients: Alcohol Denat, Aqua, Niacinamide, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sodium Ascorbate, Tocopherol, Retinol, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Fragrance, Tetrahydrodiferuloymethane, Bisabolol, Menthol
It has a few ingredients but it contains a lot of acids. Now, I am starting to think why they call it "natural". This is only 50 ml but I think this will go a long way to me. The first thing that I do when I opened it is smell it, oh dear it smells like alcohol, a little stronger to Clinique Clarifying Lotion in 2. That night, before I went to sleep I did a patch test on my chin and right cheek and prayed that it won't do any harm to me. The next day, I immediately check the part where I did a patch test and it feels smooth! It is smoother compare to the rest of my face and that is something I should be eyeing for, imagine what it can do to my whole face. As much as I want to put it all over my face, I still need to do another patch test just to be sure, this time I also put some on my forehead. I can't take any more risk other than that, so I cross my fingers hoping that it is really a good one for me.
Just a tip, if you are trying out a new product, always do a patch test first and never ever put it immediately on your entire face especially it you are trying a new brand because your skin is not familiar to it and it will react quickly.
Two days have gone, it convinced me that it is this purifier that made my skin smoother. I continued this for one more day on the same areas. I will still test this one out for a few more days before I give my final thoughts. For now, what I can say is that it surely receive the attention it wants as for the name of the product. Because it is different nga naman from their previous toners which I heard leave their skin burned. This is according to the yayas and my tita in the province. I haven't experience any stinging sensation or any redness or flaking for three days but still, that is not my basis to say that the product is very good so please wait for my follow up thoughts on this. It has a slight tingling sensation upon application which for me means that the product is really working.
If you would like to try this, I recommend that you just use this in the evening since it exfoliates the skin. It is not good to be exposed under the sun when you are using any products like this. What I do is I apply this before I sleep then in the morning, I apply a light moisturizer to be followed with a sunblock that has atleast SPF 50 and I always bring an umbrella to protect me from the sun.
I am now on my fifth day of use and I can't wait to test it further. Who knows what might happen for the next days right? Stay tune! :)
