My mom always tell me that there are two types of problems in this world: Problems that we make and Problems that come naturally. The problems that we make are the results of our actions, decisions, and so on. The latter is something that we are not responsible of; it just occur, we don't expect it to happen yet it arrives in our life. One example of it are the natural calamities that we are now experiencing.
At the present, there are three typhoons reaching our country and we don't know what may come next including what we call, The Big One. None of us know when and what will exactly happen at that moment but there are three things that we can do as of now. First, learn the do's and don'ts, tips, and what we can do before, during and after The Big One. Second, Prepare an emergency kit. Third, Pray. No one can stop it except God. We need to ask for His guidance and pray that we may all be safe.
Today, I will show to you what I have prepared in my bag for The Big One.
This is the bag that I will be using because it is my largest backpack at home plus it is waterproof, has a lot of compartments aside from its main one and the straps are pretty wide making it more comfortable to carry. I've got this when I was still a freshman college and I have abused it from all the books that I carried before. It is still in a very good condition. I have test its waterproof feature once, it rained so hard I thought my books inside will get wet but it didn't! All my things inside are completely dry so I can rely to that.
I assumed that I will be at evacuation center for three days. So I packed three panties, two bra, one sock, one long towel, two shirts, one leggings and one jacket with hoodie. Everything that I packed is lightweight except for the jacket.I didn't bring a lot because I don't need to change clothes every now and then naman.
I bring just one towel it is long enough and thick enough to absorb water. I don't bring a bath towel because it will just eat a lot of space on my bag. Something like this will do the job.
I like to bring a jogging pants but then I realized if the area is flooded, it will be hard for me to walk through because the pants will be heavier when wet so I just bring this leggings, this one is a bit thicker and it is cotton unlike others that are spandex so I will feel comfortable pa din. I advised not to bring denim pants, shorts, skirts, pajamas with you. Denim pants, because it is heavy. The shorts and skirts are obviously not appropriate to the situation. As much as possible, we need something that will cover our body not expose it. Will never know what may happen, we may experience walking through flood, or climb or run we don't know so bring something that won't expose your legs for protection plus something that you are comfortable. Pajamas, specially those that are manipis is not appropriate either although it covers your legs. ( Pwede ka mabosohan.)
This is the jacket that I have. It is from
Aeropostale. It has a hoodie and pockets and is very soft. A jacket or a sweater is a must because it is very cold and it can protect you from
ambon.
Next is your underwear. I only bring three pieces, and the one on the left is a disposable. I never wear it I just bring it because if someone doesn't have any, I will give it to her. Again, you don't have to bring much two or three is enough as long as you have panty liners with you.
This is from
Avon it can fit small up to large sized women. I love this because it is very comfortable it is a padded bra, non-underwire so I don't have to worry even if I sleep with this on. My tip is to not bring underwire bras it may just give you chest pain from long time of wearing it also, do not bring any printed or bold color bra as much as possible specially if your clothes are white or light colors, if your tops get wet it may see through and that does not look good. Bring non underwire or something that is padded and as much as possible something that is nude color.
Next, tops. What I have are from Nike these are dri-fit so even if it gets wet, or I sweat these will dry fast. Whatever happens, never bring a sleeveless top. Again, we need to cover ourselves not to show our body. It doesn't need to be very pretty or what, something that will make you comfortable and warm will do. And please, don't bring crop tops
naman.
I didn't bring any umbrella but I have a raincoat. It is easier because I just have to put it on and don't mind about my umbrella while walking, it covers my entire body plus both my hands are free to carry stuffs.
Lastly, I also want to bring a pair of socks to keep my feet warm during those cold nights. It also protect you from insects and dirt.
Now, let us move on to food supplies. I just bring milk, green tea and milo. I intentionally didn't bring coffee because it will just make me more nervous and in this situation, I really need to calm myself. You may also bring Energen, Tablea, any powdered drink that you want. I didn't bring any bottled or tetra pack goods because it has a possibility to spill inside the bag.
Next are biscuits or crackers. I have here Skyflakes and Presto. The latter is for my dog, it is her favorite snack so I bring her a pack of these. In case you don't have food anymore these will come in handy. You may also bring: bread, oatmeal, instant noodles, canned goods that are ready to eat and easy to open, pouched sardines, trail mix, energy bar, and dried fruits.
Instead of candies, I bring this gummies that have vitamin C. More nutritious than regular candies and gummies.

Biogesic, my vial incase of my hyperacidity,
Kremil S, Neozep and
Alaxan FR.
Also I bring my pets some food. I re-use the pack of their dog food in smaller packaging because it has a seal. I also bring their vitamins, and an anti-bacterial capsule. I also have medicines for pets like for seizure, vitamin c, vitamin a, for cough and colds. I have a friend who is a vet and he gave me some medicines for dogs and cats just incase so I bring samples of it just to be prepared. I also bring them two 5 ml shampoo and conditioner and an antibacterial liquid soap incase they get dirty along with a sponge so they don't have to take a bath but a sponge bath only. I also bring my dog two clothes and a blanket so she won't get cold.
I also bring some essential like a facial cleanser, a cooling powder, a citronella cloth spray, Off! Lotion, a sunblock and a feminine wash.
*Not in picture, I also have shampoos and a bar soap that I got from Hotels. Those are perfect because it fits even to my purse. I don't have to bring big bottles of shampoos and body wash. I don't even know if I can take a bath if there is any clean water at the place. If you don't have sample size of bath essentials, you may bring sachet version of it or transfer yours into smaller bottles. Make sure they are tightly sealed and the caps are not broken so it won't make any mess inside your bag.
I also brought sanitary napkins just in case and a pack of panty liners. These are essentials because even if you have few underwears, you are sure that you feel fresh and clean with these.
In case we don't have an access to clean water, wipes can do the trick to clean our face and body. You may also bring: dry shampoo and feminine wipes.
I also have a comb and some hair ties to tie my hair in place. It may get very windy and I don't want to have a
sabog look.
This is my first-aid kit. Inside are some medicines and some tools including:
Betadine and a tape. I also have some band-aids that are very sticky to the skin that even if it gets wet, it won't fall off.
I also bring an alcohol. Now in bringing an alcohol, make sure that the solution is 70% not 40%. The solution is very important when it comes to alcohol the higher the solution, the better.
This is just water, I have this incase my pets don't behave properly, I'll spray them with water.
I also have some oils, an efficascent, white flower(not in picture) and a tea tree oil incase I got a pimple.
I also bring a multi-purpose gel pack. It can be use for cold or hot theraphy. Bring something like this incase someone gets cramp, muscle pain, stomach pain, dysmenorrhea and the likes.
I didn't bring a cellphone charger anymore, I just bring a full-battery basic phone with a sim that has a load good for one month. We never know, what if there is no electricity, you can't charge your phone and call for help or to your family right? I also have a flashlight.
If you bring a phone, make sure it has a flashlight, a built-in radio and maybe with t.v so you know about the latest in news.
You may also bring: a whistle, a swiss knife, a multi-purpose tool, a powerbank and a rope.
I also have a flashlight earpick, a candle, a lighter and some Crayola. I didn't bring matches because it has a tendency to get wet and it will then be useless a lighter is much better. I also read about the Crayola that it can give light for 15 mins which is amazing.
I also have a bible for guidance and if I don't have to do anything I will just read the bible or pray. Bible is very important for me it helps me to clear my thoughts, have a peaceful mind and a lot more. Never forget to pray to God and ask for His help at all times.
Since this is a beauty blog, I got some beauty essentials incase you ask me what will I bring during this time.
A travel size Belo deodorant because I do't want to smell bad even if I don't take a bath. Burt's Bees hand salve to make my hands soft, Burt's bees lip shimmer, it has a minty scent that makes my breath a lil fresher. A lip essence to keep my lips soft and supple. Vicks inhaler and a kit that contains Kiehl's samples.
These are the things that I have inside my Emergency bag. I hope you get some ideas and tips. Let us always be prepared to whatever happens, be brave, be smart and always have faith to God.
